Ph.D. Elías Sanz Casado

  • Bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. in Bilogical Sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1983, 1986).
  • Has been a researcher and director of information units in different Spanish institutions.
  • Full Professor of Library Science and Documentation at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
  • Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid since 2004.
  • Has been Head of the Department of Library Science and Documentation at the Universidad Carlos III, where he teaches in Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. programs.
  • Also participates in Thematic Network courses about Metric Studies of Information.
  • Leads and participates in competitive research projects convened by different Spanish and foreign public institutions. Has been a member of external scientific quality evaluation committees and lecturer at universities in Spain, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Additionally, he is a member of evaluation and accreditation committees for professors of Spanish agencies, a reviewer of scientific journals, etc.
  • Has published in national and international journals and has directed a large number of doctoral theses on studies of evaluation, production and use of scientific information.
  • Is Director of the Revista Iberoamericana de Usuarios de Información (FORINF@).
  • Is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Revista Española de Documentación Científica and the Revista General de Información y Documentación.
  • Since February of 2013 directs the Research Institute for Higher Education and Science (INAECU).
